Who Embodies Agile Leadership For MeIn the Agile Environment leadership is a big topic, because without a good leader how can you be confident that your team and product will bring value to the organisation.

For me it comes down to enabling others to succeed, knowing who you are working with, understanding everyone’s strengths and weaknesses, and knowing how to tap into them so that you can get the most value.

In my experience, I am often asked what I think the qualities are of a great Agile Leader and who I think embodies those leadership qualities. A surprising answer that I often give people is that I view supportive parents as being representative of what incredible Agile Leaders are.

But why?

I say this because parents have to deal with change and unexpected challenges every day that can range from really simple problems all the way to chaotic problems, but nonetheless they still have to be there for their children and support them on their life’s journey. I also feel the same goes for teachers, as they too are constantly dealing with variables that can change at any second but must remain steadfast on their goals, which is to achieve the teaching objectives of the school year or semester, and support their students on their road to academic success as well as healthy psychosocial development.

Teachers and parents, like Agile leaders thus have the following in common:

🚀 They seek to find the best possible solution and outcome.

🚀 They are flexible in their approach and are continuously responding to their environment.

🚀 They have strong interpersonal skills and work effectively in team settings.

🚀 They can identify weaknesses and determine what is needed to bring about positive change.

What is most important of all however is that a truly great Agile Leader is enabling and supporting others. Now that’s an ingredient for success!
